Prom Gowns, Prom Dress

Don’t Assume Any Color Will Work

Just because the prom dress looks great on the hanger doesn’t mean it will go perfectly with your complexion and hair color. Make sure to take your friends or parents with you to help find the best color for you. If you have a light complexion and bright red hair, a ruby colored dress may not be the best choice. On the other hand, you may want to avoid lime green if you’ve been blessed with a rich olive complexion. Make sure the color makes your complexion look good rather than washed out.

Prom Dress Exercise

You probably know how exercise helps your body. You hopefully take part in an exercise program, and it’s important to keep it up when your prom is around the corner. Some people get so overwhelmed with the event that they drop their exercise regimen, while in fact they should be exercising with no excuses during the days leading to the prom, as well as on prom morning. Exercise helps reduce stress. It releases certain hormones that help you feel happy and fresh. So, hit the gym, go for a jog, or dance around at home with some friends! Get ready for that new Prom dress!

How To Plan A Prom, Prom Dress, Prom Gown

From Casey Lewis, for About.com

The theme of your decorations is one of the most influential decisions on how your prom plays out. With dazzling, impressive decs, the enthusiasm and excitement will be infectious. The best route is to order a variety of party decoration catalogs. There are infinite themes available, so access your options, pitch in a handful ideas, then have the entire committee vote on one collective prom motif. Want to know more? Read about the top five prom decoration themes.

Select invitations
Although students won't be basing their decision to attend prom on how tempting the invitations look, the formal invite is a very sentimental element of prom, especially for the departing senior class. The prom committee inspects hundreds of varieties, finally settling on the chosen one that is both unique and worth holding on to.

Choose the DJ or band
The music truly sets the mood for the entire evening of prom, and it's on the shoulders of the committee members to find the perfect soundtrack. A DJ specializing in '80s tunes may be the go-to guy for a certain clientele, but those tunes were in heavy rotation before we knew how to spell Timberlake. When it comes to getting the prom party started, look for DJs or bands that play a variety of Top 40 hits with a nice infusion of dance party classics.

Plan the menu
Whether you do an entire sit-down dinner or simply hors d'oeuvres, prom-goers like to get the bang for their buck. It's up to you to create a crowd-pleasing menu, so focus on foods that are widely-adored: chicken, good... tofu, bad; an assortment of cupcakes, good... German chocolate cake, bad.

Order party favors
After months of planning the perfect prom, you owe it to yourself - and your classmates - to have a festive party favor at the end of the night. The committee should put their heads together to find something memorable, celebratory, and above all budget-friendly. Most prom catalogs include favors that coordinate with the theme, but think outside the box and consider local goods (baked goods, candles, candy, et cetera).

Getting Into The Perfect Prom Dress

Your Prom night is what you’ve been waiting for. There is probably no doubt that you have been planning for this special occasion for quite some time. You may have found the perfect prom gown that you absolutely love, but you have discovered that it’s a little snugger than you would like it to be. Don’t fret, you still have an opportunity to get into that perfect prom dress; all you need to do is a little bit of a work out. Most of us enjoy the idea of a good healthy work out, but it always appears to be something that is often easier said then done. If you find that you fall into this trap, you can use your prom as your incentive to lose a few pounds.

You would be surprised to learn that losing a little bit of weight is not as difficult as you would think. It does not mean that you have to take up strenuous exercise, it’s simply a matter of monitoring your diet, and keeping active. Before you even begin to exercise, set a goal for yourself. If you decide, for example, that you would like to lose five pounds, then you can begin to try out a few exercises.

The best exercise that you can participate in is walking. An active hour walk every day does not only do your shape a world of good, it also gets your blood flowing, your heart pumping and makes you feel energetic and great. Other exercises that have become quite popular that you can do in the comfort of your own home are those such as yoga. There are many different types of yoga, so you may wish to try a few of them, like Pilates, to decide which one you can commit to best. If you choose to do one of these exercises make sure that you are doing them properly and at a beginners pace. You don’t want to make the mistake of overdoing it and hurting your muscles.

As far as you diet is concerned, all you will want to ensure is that you are eating proper and healthy foods. Don’t over eat, and try eating smaller portions throughout the day, instead of large meals. By doing this, you will find that your body will be able to digest food properly, so you won’t look and feel as bloated. Make sure that you drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses a day), that way your body will be able to flush out toxins in your body. The saying “you are what you eat” does have a ring of truth to it. Naturally, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a treat now and then, but the point is to not over do it. Losing weight is about eating proper healthy portions of food that give your body the nutrients and protein it needs. You don’t need pills or crazy diet plans; all you need is your determination.

You can look and feel your best for your prom night, and wear that perfect dress you’ve always wanted. Develop a healthy and active life style, and you can feel great all of the time!

Accessorizing Your Prom Gown Look

Your prom is the opportunity for you to look and feel your best. It is that one special night that you will remember, so what you choose to wear, and how you choose to wear it can make all of the difference to the way your prom shines in your memory. Once you have located that perfect prom dress, you will then want to choose the correct accessories to compliment your outfit. The trick to the accessories you choose will depend heavily upon the type of look you wish to achieve for your prom. The best way for you to select your look is to narrow it down to these options – “Classic and Regal”, “Simple and Clean” or “Funky Fashion”.

If you are aiming for the “Classic and Regal” prom look, you will most likely choose a prom dress that is long, flowy and elegant. The accessories that are most suitable to this look are often short or chocker necklaces that are encrusted with beads, pearls, colorful gems, or sparkly stones. It is wise to select the matching set of earrings, or earrings that flatter the necklace. It is entirely your personal choice if you wish to wear dangling earrings or studs. The best idea would be to sample both and ask the opinion of a trust worthy critic. You may also wish to glam-up your outfit with a ring or two, a bracelet and perhaps a glittering tiara. If you are wearing a strapless dress you may wish to adorn yourself with a lovely pair of long posh satin gloves. The most popular colors for satin gloves are black and white, but you can also find them in a variety of other colors. A dainty purse will finish off your “Classic and Regal” prom look, and you’ll be dressed to the nines!

A “Simple and Clean” prom look is one that is more modern. It’s not so much about the frills as it is about looking and feeling natural. The prom dress that might appeal to you for this look could be one that is long and sleek, or short and chic. The jewelry you may wear in order to compliment your outfit should be something dainty and charming. You will also find that a small purse will also flatter your attire. The “Simple and Clean” look isn’t about being flashy it’s about the perfect touch. You don’t require gloves, a tiara or the complete set of matching jewelry, all you need is to look and feel your best. Remember it’s your prom, there is no law that states you must look like a movie stereotype; just be you, and wear what makes you feel beautiful.

The last of these looks is “Funky Fashion”, and this is a style that is geared towards those with a little more flare, and eccentric tastes. If this is where your heart lies, there is no telling what form of prom dress you will choose to wear. The accessory tips that you will need to think about, will depend most importantly on your outfit. Keep in mind that although it is fun to be wild, there is still a line you won’t wish to cross. Do not fall into the trap of becoming a fashion disaster by clashing! Stay away from excessive chunky jewelry, and conflicting colors. Most proms are formal occasions, so make sure you are aware of what is allowed before you start concocting to many racy ideas for your outfit. “Funky Fashion” is about originality and creativity. The key is to create a look for prom that compliments you.

It doesn't matter which of these fashions suits your taste. All that matters is that you feel good about how you look in your prom dress when all is said and done. You don’t need to overly concern yourself with accessories, because it’s choosing the prom dress that is usually the hardest part. Shopping for accessories is usually a fun expedition, whether it is at the mall or online, that you can enjoy with your best friends. Have a great time at your prom and take with you the one accessory that no fashion style should be without, your camera.

Choosing the Perfect Prom Dress

Your Prom is one of the most important days in your life. For that reason, choosing the absolute perfect prom dress is vital to getting the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. After all, a prom dress isn’t just a dress; it’s the difference between feeling wonderful and beautiful, and feeling like you look “okay.”

Of course, we aren’t all rolling in cash, and that tends to make things a little bit more of a challenge. However, it doesn’t mean that you can’t find that spectacular gown, just because you only have a pocket full of change to your name. You just have to know the right techniques for getting a great prom dress gown without having to spend a ton of money.

To start, have a look at some of the magazines and websites that can show you this year’s latest styles. You’ll discover what you’re looking for, if you want to be on top of the fashions of 2010. This year, you’ll see different versions of strapless, halter-top, and cowl-neck, all in the evening gown style. The colors are very bold, as are the fabrics, ranging from reds and vibrant blues, even to subtle tie-dyed, and sequined trends. Once you have an image of this year’s look, it’s time to hit the stores. The earlier, the better, since less money requires more time.

You may wish to begin your shopping at your local vintage or consignment shop. These dresses will usually cost in around $10-$80. You’ll need to visit there frequently, as they will always have new and different stock coming in, and going out. If you’re not satisfied with those stores, step into a discount store. While they may not always have the traditional formal dress that you’ve imagined, you can find something equally as beautiful, for $20-$80. Of course, you shouldn’t forget the Internet’s endless resources. Check your favorite stores for discounts that are unique to the internet, keep your eyes peeled for smaller stores that specialize in prom dresses, and have a look at online auctions, which can potentially save you a staggering amount of cash. The drawback to the online option, though, is that you won’t have any guarantee that the dress will fit, and so you might lose out on shipping the items back and forth as you try them on. If you have the time, the skill, and the inclination (or if you know someone who owes you a tremendous favor and who is very talented), you may even want to make your own prom dress. That way, you’ll get exactly the style you want, custom-fit precisely to your unique body shape. The fabric should cost you in around $50, and you’ll need a pattern on top of that.

Of course, while we all want to save money, but remember the importance of your prom. The memories will be forever, and if you can possibly do it, go all out on your dress and your evening. If you do go all out, you know that you’ll get the perfect shopping experience, the perfect fairy tale prom dress, and the perfect prom night. You’ll be guaranteed the right style, and the finest quality. This will usually cost between $200 and $800 for your gown, but the experience will be worth every penny.

Remember, your prom night is your evening of fun, fashion, beauty, and memories that will last forever. Look your very best in the perfect prom dress, and enjoy!
